When does my eSIM plan start?

Your eSIM plan starts at its first connection to a mobile network, not when you buy it or install it.

Each product page says so, for example "The 7 days start at first connection." So install the eSIM at home on Wi-Fi before you travel, and switch it on when you land: the days count from there.

When should I install my eSIM?

Before you travel, at home on Wi-Fi, because installing needs internet. Then switch the eSIM on when you land and turn on data roaming for it. Step by step: install on an iPhone or install on Android.

How long does my plan last?

As many days as the plan's name says, counted from the first connection. Most plans last 7, 15 or 30 days. As of September 25, 2026, two plans last longer: USA 20 GB for 90 days and United Arab Emirates 10 GB for 60 days. The plan ends when its data or its days run out, whichever comes first.

What happens when the data runs out?

The plan ends, and you buy a new one: Genghis does not add data to an existing eSIM. Keep the old eSIM on your phone, since a deleted eSIM cannot be installed again. Read how to get more data.

Does buying or installing the eSIM start the plan?
