How do I redeem an Amazon gift card?

Sign in on the Amazon site your card was issued for, open Redeem a Gift Card, enter the claim code and select Apply to Your Balance.

Amazon's help pages say each card works only on the Amazon site that issued it: an Amazon.com card on amazon.com, an Amazon.ca card on amazon.ca (checked September 25, 2026). The balance then pays your next eligible order on its own, and once redeemed it cannot move to another account.

How do I redeem an Amazon claim code on the website?

On the Redeem a Gift Card page, signed in to the account that should hold the money. Per Amazon's help page (checked September 25, 2026):

1. Sign in on the Amazon site that issued the card, for example amazon.com for a US card.
2. Open Redeem a Gift Card. On Amazon.com it is amazon.com/gc/redeem.
3. Paste the claim code from your order: 14 or 15 characters, usually letters and numbers.
4. Select Apply to Your Balance.

What do Amazon's gift card errors mean?

Most refusals come from the wrong Amazon site or a code already applied.

• Wrong site. Amazon says "Amazon.com Gift Cards can only be used on Amazon.com", and every other country's card is tied to its own site.
• Already applied. Anyone holding the claim code could have redeemed it, on your account or another. Check your balance; if the money is missing, write to us.

How do I check my Amazon gift card balance?

In Your Account, select Gift cards: the balance page lists every change with its order ID or serial number (checked September 25, 2026). To keep the balance for a later order, select Change at checkout and untick Use your Gift and promotional balance.

Does my Amazon account country matter?

Yes: the card must match the Amazon site, and changing your account country does not move the balance. Amazon's Country Settings move digital content such as Kindle books and apps, but Amazon says gift card balances won't transfer. What if my Amazon code still doesn't work?

Send us a screenshot of Amazon's message within 30 days. Refunds within 30 days if a code fails at first redemption, arrives incomplete or never arrives, or our page showed the wrong region.
