How do I redeem a Google Play gift card?

Go to play.google.com/redeem on a computer, or open the Play Store app on Android, enter the code, then select Redeem and Confirm.

Google says Play gift cards can only be redeemed in the country of purchase, and you must be in that country when you redeem (checked September 25, 2026). There is no Play Store app on iPhone, so use the website there. The balance then buys content sold in the card's currency.

How do I redeem in the Play Store app?

From your profile, per Google's help page (checked September 25, 2026):

1. Open the Google Play Store app on your Android device.
2. Tap your profile picture at the top right.
3. Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Redeem code (some Google pages say Redeem gift code).
4. Enter the code and tap Redeem.
5. Check the Google Account that will receive the balance, then tap Confirm.

On a computer, play.google.com/redeem takes the same code, usually 16 letters and numbers, without spaces or dashes.

What do Google Play's error messages mean?

Each message matches a cause on Google's help page for gift card problems.

• "There is a problem with that code": a typo, or a code not activated. Type it again without spaces.
• "This code can only be used in" a country: you are outside the country of purchase. Redeem once you are back.
• "already been redeemed on a different account": check which Google Account you are signed in to. Google will not say which account used it.
• "You have reached your redemption limit": Play balance has caps per country, such as USD 2,000 in the US. Spend some balance, wait 24 hours, then redeem.

How do I check my Play balance?

In the Play Store app, tap your profile, then Payments & subscriptions, Payment methods and Google Play balance. On the web, open play.google.com, your profile icon, Payment & Subscriptions, then Play Balance.

Can I change my Google Play country?

Yes, at most once every 90 days, from inside the new country and with a payment method from there. Your balance stays linked to the old country and your Play Points are lost. Before you buy, read what the country label on our cards means.

What if my Google Play code still doesn't work?

Send us a screenshot of Google's message within 30 days. Refunds within 30 days if a code fails at first redemption, arrives incomplete or never arrives, or our page showed the wrong region.
