Is my phone compatible with an eSIM? – Genghis

Your phone works with a Genghis eSIM if it supports eSIM and is unlocked: dial *#06#, and if you see an EID, it supports eSIM.

A phone locked to one operator will not accept it. Check both before you buy: at checkout you confirm "My phone supports eSIM and is not locked to one operator."

How do I check that my phone supports eSIM?

Dial *#06# and look for an EID. The phone makers also show it in the settings (checked September 25, 2026):

iPhone: Settings, General, About, per Apple's page on finding the EID.
Google Pixel: Settings, About phone, SIM status, EID, per Google's Pixel help.
Samsung Galaxy: on the box, or Settings, About phone, Status, per Samsung's eSIM guide.

Which phones support eSIM?

Recent models from the main phone makers, per their own support pages (checked September 25, 2026):

Apple: iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR or later, per Apple's eSIM page. iPhone 13 and later can use two eSIMs at the same time.
Google: Pixel 4 and later; on Pixel 3 and 3a it depends on the carrier and country, per Google's Pixel eSIM page.
Samsung: Galaxy S20 and later, Note20, the Z Fold and Z Flip series and some A models. Support can depend on the country where the phone was bought, per Samsung's eSIM list.

How do I know if my phone is unlocked?

On an iPhone, the settings show it. Open Settings, General, About: "No SIM Restrictions" next to Carrier Lock means it is unlocked, and only the carrier can unlock it, per Apple's travel page. Google says a Pixel must be SIM unlocked to use another carrier's plan, and phones sold by a carrier may be locked, per Google's unlocking page (checked September 25, 2026).

What if my phone is not compatible?

Ask for a refund before you install it anywhere. An eSIM is refunded in full within 30 days if it has not been installed: read how eSIM refunds work. Install it only on the phone you travel with, because an installed eSIM stays on that phone and cannot be moved to another one.
