Where can I use my prepaid card? – Genghis

Your prepaid card works where its issuer allows: US reward cards only at US merchants, others abroad too, vouchers only on sites that take them.

Visa or Mastercard on the card does not mean every merchant everywhere. The issuer sets the countries, and most cards refuse subscriptions and cash at ATMs. Check the country on the product page before you pay.

Which cards work only in the United States?

The US reward cards, per their cardholder agreements (checked September 25, 2026). Prepaid Visa Reward USA, Prepaid Visa eReward USD and the two Mastercard eReward Virtual Accounts work only with merchants in the US, foreign websites included. American Express USD works in the US, the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, online and by mail order, and in stores only through a digital wallet such as Apple Pay or Google Pay.

Which cards work abroad?

These, per their issuers (checked September 25, 2026):

Visa Prepaid Card Canada: anywhere Visa is accepted; other currencies are converted to CAD with a 2.5% charge.
Vanilla Visa Japan: online only, at Visa merchants in Japan and abroad, with a 5.09% charge on other currencies.
Visa Prepaid Card Australia: wherever prepaid Visa is accepted, including abroad, and in stores with Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay; not at ATMs and not for other gift cards.
The Prepaid Mastercard at virtualcardredemption.com: acceptance may vary by merchant, and never in sanctioned countries.

Where do vouchers and single brand cards work?

Only where their issuer says (checked September 25, 2026):

Neosurf: on Neosurf partner websites, online only.
CASHlib: at participating merchants; local rules may limit it to the country where the code was issued.
paysafecard: at online shops showing the paysafecard logo, country by country.
Bitsa: the voucher only tops up a Bitsa card, which then pays wherever Visa is accepted.
Blue Prepaid: at brands taking part in Blue Rewards, in the country of issue only.
Rewarble and Crypto Voucher: only on their own sites, as a payout or as crypto.
Mobile load vouchers such as Smart or Sawa: only on a line of that operator, in its country. Read how mobile top-ups work.

How do I pick the right card?

Match the card's country to where you will spend it. Restrictions on your own account or region are not refunded when our page was correct.
