Why buy gift cards with crypto?

Buying gift cards with crypto lets you spend the coins you hold without first selling them on an exchange and moving the money through a bank.

Why spend crypto instead of cashing it out first?

Because cashing out puts several intermediaries between your coins and what you want to buy. To spend crypto the usual way, you move it from your wallet to an exchange, sell it, withdraw the money to your bank, then pay by card. Each of those intermediaries can flag, freeze or delay the transfer.

Because a stablecoin holds its dollar value while you pay. USDT and USDC track the US dollar, so the value of what you send stays steady between the quote and the confirmation. Bitcoin, Ether and other volatile coins can move in price in that time.

Do I need a bank card or ID?

No bank card, and no ID at checkout. Genghis takes no cards, so it holds no card data. No KYC at checkout: an email address is all we ask for. Purchase limits apply: see the AML and purchase limits page. Some prepaid card issuers may ask for ID when you activate or load the card. That is the issuer's rule.

Where can I use what I buy?

In 80+ countries, depending on the product. Each product page lists the country or region where the code works: an Amazon US card redeems on amazon.com, an Amazon DE card on amazon.de. What does paying with crypto cost?

The amount in your coin includes our exchange-rate margin, and your wallet or exchange charges its own sending fee. You see the full amount in your coin before you pay. As of September 25, 2026, Genghis adds a network cost only on USDT on Tron ($3.53) and on Monero ($2.35), and the checkout shows it before you choose.

What are the downsides?

Crypto payments are final, so a mistake on the sending side is hard or impossible to undo. Know these before you pay:

• No chargeback: a crypto payment cannot be reversed the way a card payment can. Your protection is the refund policy. Refunds within 30 days if a code fails at first redemption, arrives incomplete or never arrives, or our page showed the wrong region.
• Wrong network: coins sent on a different network from the one you picked can be lost. That is a blockchain limitation, not a Genghis policy. Read what happens when crypto goes to the wrong network.
• Sending fees: if your wallet or exchange takes its fee out of the amount, less arrives and the order does not complete on its own. Choose "recipient gets the full amount" or add the fee on top.
• Price moves: the value of a volatile coin can change while the payment confirms. The quote holds for a limited time, shown by the countdown on the payment screen. If it expires before you send, get a new quote.
• Waiting time: your code appears once the payment confirms, and how long the confirmation takes depends on the coin.
• Region locks: a gift card works only in the country or region shown on its product page.

When you do not hold crypto yet. Buying crypto only to spend it on a gift card adds steps you skip by paying with a card at the brand.
