What is a crypto wallet, and which one can I pay Genghis with?

A crypto wallet is an app or device that holds the keys to your coins, and any wallet or exchange that can send to an address can pay Genghis.

The payment screen gives you an address, a QR code and the exact amount, so any wallet that sends your coin on the network you pick at checkout works. Some coins and networks add shortcuts: "Open in wallet" on a phone, and on a computer a button that lets your wallet sign the payment.

What is a crypto wallet?

A crypto wallet is software or a device that stores the keys to your coins and signs your transfers. The coins stay on the blockchain; the keys prove they are yours.

Most wallets back up those keys with a recovery phrase, which MetaMask calls the Secret Recovery Phrase. Anyone who has the phrase controls the funds, and without it a lost phone or device can mean lost coins.

Genghis never sees your wallet's private keys or recovery phrase, and we never store your wallet address. Genghis is not a wallet either: crypto payments are processed by NOWPayments, a third-party payment processor, and we never custody customer funds.

What kinds of wallets are there?

Four kinds you can pay from: an app, a browser extension, a hardware wallet and an exchange account. Examples as of September 25, 2026:

Exodus says its browser extension, Exodus Web3 Wallet, will no longer be available after October 1, 2026 (checked September 25, 2026).

Which wallets can I pay Genghis with?

Any wallet or exchange that can send your coin on the network you choose at checkout. Hardware wallets, software wallets and exchange withdrawals all work.

Check first that your wallet supports the network. Per each wallet's help center (checked September 25, 2026):

What shortcuts does the payment screen offer?

Two, on some coins and networks, and copy and paste works everywhere.

On a phone: "Open in wallet" opens your wallet app with the transfer filled in, for Bitcoin, Dogecoin, Solana, USDT on Solana and most Ethereum-style pairs. It opens the app your phone uses for payment links, which may not be the wallet you expect.
On a computer: on Ethereum-style networks such as Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Polygon and Base, a browser-extension wallet gets a "Pay with" button with its name. Without one, "Connect wallet" opens WalletConnect, a QR code you scan with a wallet app. The button then reads "Check your wallet", then "Sent".
Everywhere else: coins that need a memo or tag, Tron, TON and several other networks have no button. Tap "Copy address", paste it into your wallet and send the amount under "Send exactly".

Can I pay straight from an exchange?

Yes: withdraw the exact amount to the address shown, on the network you picked, after checking that your exchange offers that network.

If the exchange takes a withdrawal fee, add it so the full amount arrives, or the order is paid short. Exchanges process withdrawals on their own schedule, so the payment can reach the network later than from a wallet you control. Read what to check when you pay from an exchange.

What should I set up before my first payment?

A little of the network's own coin for the fee, and the right network for your coins.

Fee coin: tokens such as USDT and USDC pay their network fee in the network's coin, so a wallet holding only USDT on Tron also needs TRX. Read what network fees are and who pays them.

A refund address: refunds are paid in USDT or USDC (ERC-20 or BEP-20) or as Genghis Points, 1 to 3 business days after approval.
