Microsoft takes cards, bank accounts, PayPal and phone billing, not crypto, so an Xbox gift card is the way in. The card's country must match the country your Microsoft account is registered in. Redeeming the code adds its value to your Microsoft account balance, which you spend on Xbox, Windows and the Microsoft Store online.

The card for the country your Microsoft account is registered in. Microsoft's gift card terms say a card may only be added to a Microsoft account registered in the jurisdiction it was issued for, and the balance cannot change currency (checked September 25, 2026). Check the country on your account before you pay: when our page named the card's country correctly, a code refused because your account is set to another country is not refundable. Apps, games, movies and TV, and in most regions Surface and Xbox devices and accessories, per Microsoft's help page (checked September 25, 2026). Certain subscriptions bought inside apps and cash substitutes are excluded, and in Taiwan gift card balance cannot buy hardware. Microsoft's terms add that balance from a gift card does not expire, costs nothing to hold, and cannot be transferred to another person or Microsoft account.

When do I get my Xbox code?

Your code appears on screen as soon as the payment confirms on the network. We also email you a link to it. How long the confirmation takes depends on the coin. Keep the code until it shows as balance on your Microsoft account. Details in where and when your code is delivered.

What if my Xbox code doesn't work?

Start with the country of your Microsoft account, then write to us with a screenshot. Also check that you signed in to the right account: the balance goes to whichever account was signed in when you redeemed.
