What is KYC, and does Genghis ask for it?

KYC means proving who you are with documents, and Genghis does not ask for it at checkout: an email address is all you need to buy.

What does KYC mean?

KYC stands for Know Your Customer: the checks a business runs to confirm who you are. A typical check asks for an ID document, a selfie and proof of address, and banks and crypto exchanges usually run one before they open an account for you.

KYC is one tool of anti-money laundering (AML) rules, which aim to stop criminal money from moving through a business. Other AML tools work without knowing your name, such as watching for unusual order patterns and screening payments against sanctions lists.

Does Genghis ask for ID when I buy?

No, not within the purchase limits. There is no document upload, no selfie and no proof of address: you need an email address to receive your codes, and that is all.

The same holds with an account. An account takes an email address and a password, and we ask for no documents to open one. Guest checkout works on every product. Read whether you need an account to buy.

What are the purchase limits?

Rolling limits over any 24 hours and any 30 days, higher with a free account, as of September 25, 2026.

The limits add up every order that is paid or waiting for payment. They are our own policy, set on a risk basis: no law requires them of us. Read how much you can buy on Genghis.

When can Genghis ask for my ID?

Only when you want to spend above the limits, and we tell you before you pay. Above these limits, email samantha@genghis.pro before ordering. We may ask for ID before payment.

Why might a prepaid card issuer ask for my ID?

Because the issuer, not Genghis, sets the rules for its card. Some prepaid card issuers may ask for ID when you activate or load the card. That is the issuer's rule.

A prepaid Visa or Mastercard is issued by a bank or an electronic money institution. Its issuer may ask you to verify your identity when you activate the card, load it or pass a balance threshold, and we cannot waive that request. Can Genghis refuse an order without KYC?

Yes. We watch for patterns linked to financial crime, and we apply sanctions rules.

• Patterns we watch: repeated purchases of the same high value product, orders structured to sit just under a limit, the same buyer using several email addresses, and payments connected to sanctioned addresses or jurisdictions.
• Sanctions: we do not sell to customers in jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions, or to anyone on an applicable sanctions list. Our payment processor runs its own screening on the crypto side.
• Refunds: where an order is refused after payment, we refund it. If you think an order was refused in error, write to samantha@genghis.pro and a person will look at it.

What does Genghis know about me without KYC?

Your email address, the items you bought, and your IP address, logged briefly for fraud detection. We never store your wallet address, and we never sell your data. Read what personal data Genghis collects and which crypto wallets you can pay with.

How do I know an ID request really comes from Genghis?
