How do I buy gift cards with Polygon (POL)?

To pay with POL, choose Polygon at checkout, then the network option called Polygon, and send the exact amount shown to the address on screen.

Polygon has two options at checkout. "Polygon" is POL, the native coin of the Polygon network. "ERC20" is the old MATIC token on Ethereum, not POL on Ethereum. Choose the one matching what you hold. Your code appears on screen as soon as the payment confirms on the network. We also email you a link to it.

What is Polygon (POL)?

POL is the native token of the Polygon ecosystem and the successor to MATIC, according to Polygon's documentation. It pays for gas (network fees) and staking on Polygon Chain, formerly called Polygon PoS, a network that uses the same 0x addresses as Ethereum and anchors to it. At checkout, that network is labeled "Polygon".

Which networks does Genghis accept for Polygon?

Two options, as of September 25, 2026, and they are different coins. The checkout always shows the current list.

The ERC20 option accepts only the MATIC token contract 0x7D1AfA7B718fb893dB30A3aBc0Cfc608AaCfeBB0 on Ethereum. If you hold USDT or USDC on Polygon instead, pay with those coins: USDC on Polygon is native USDC, not the older bridged USDC.e.

How do I pay with POL, step by step?

Eight steps, and step 3 is the one that matters most.

1. Add the gift card to your cart, open checkout and enter the email address that should receive your code.
2. Select "Show all currencies", or type Polygon or MATIC in the search box. The Polygon row shows the ticker MATIC and "on 2 networks".
3. On the screen "Which network for Polygon?", choose "Polygon" if your POL is on the Polygon network, or "ERC20" only if you hold the old MATIC token on Ethereum.
4. Send exactly the amount shown to the address shown: copy both, or scan the QR code.
5. On the Polygon option you can let your wallet fill the payment in: "Open in wallet" on a phone, or on a computer "Pay with" and your wallet's name when a browser extension wallet is installed, otherwise "Connect wallet" for WalletConnect. The ERC20 option has no wallet button.
6. If your wallet or exchange deducts a sending fee, pick "recipient gets the full amount" or add the fee on top.
7. Pay before the "Quote expires in" countdown reaches zero. After that the address stays valid, and "Get a new quote" gives the updated amount.
8. Wait for the payment to confirm. Your code appears on screen and we email you a link to it.

Which POL and MATIC mistakes can lose my payment?

Sending the wrong token to an option, or the right token on the wrong network. These facts come from Polygon's documentation (checked September 25, 2026).

• POL on Ethereum fits neither option. POL also exists as a token on Ethereum. The ERC20 option takes the old MATIC token only, and a different token sent to that address can be lost. Move your POL to the Polygon network first, then choose "Polygon".
• MATIC on the Polygon network is already POL. MATIC upgraded to POL on September 4, 2024, and MATIC on Polygon Chain became POL automatically, 1:1. Wallets with old network settings may still show the symbol MATIC. Choose "Polygon".
• MATIC on Ethereum stays MATIC until you migrate it. It becomes POL only through Polygon's migration contract, 1:1, which you run yourself. Until then, the ERC20 option is the one that takes it.
• The address does not tell the network. The same 0x address works on Polygon and on Ethereum. The network you pick in your wallet decides where the coins go.
• Gas is paid in each network's own coin. On Polygon you pay gas in POL. The ERC20 option travels on Ethereum, where gas is paid in ETH, so that wallet needs some ETH too.

How long until I get my code?

Your code appears on screen as soon as the payment confirms on the network. We also email you a link to it. How long the confirmation takes depends on the coin. Polygon Chain reaches finality in a few seconds, per Polygon, while the ERC20 option moves at Ethereum's pace of one block per slot of 12 seconds (ethereum.org). What if something goes wrong with my POL payment?

Write before you pay again, with your order number and the transaction hash (TxID). If your wallet button reads "Sent" but the payment screen does not see the transfer, the screen tells you so: "Your wallet reported sending it, but the transfer has not reached this payment. Write to us about this order before you pay again." For the other cases, read POL or MATIC sent on the wrong network, a payment stuck on "Pending", a "partially paid" order or a quote that expired before the payment arrived.

Can I get a refund in POL?

No: refunds go out in stablecoins or Points, never in POL or MATIC. Refunds within 30 days if a code fails at first redemption, arrives incomplete or never arrives, or our page showed the wrong region. Refunds are paid in USDT or USDC (ERC-20 or BEP-20) or as Genghis Points, 1 to 3 business days after approval. Read how to ask for a refund.
