How do I buy gift cards with XRP, and where does the destination tag go?

Choose XRP (listed as Ripple) at checkout, then send the exact amount to the r address with the destination tag shown on the payment screen.

The tag goes in the destination tag field of your wallet or exchange, and the address in the address field. A deposit sent without the tag cannot be recovered by us or by anyone else. Your code appears on screen as soon as the payment confirms on the network. We also email you a link to it.

What is XRP?

XRP is the native cryptocurrency of the XRP Ledger, an open-source blockchain built in 2011 and 2012 by Jed McCaleb, Arthur Britto and David Schwartz, according to xrpl.org. At Genghis checkout, XRP is listed as Ripple.

Which networks does Genghis accept for XRP?

Coins that need a tag never get a wallet button on the payment screen, so you enter the tag and the address in your wallet or exchange yourself.

Where does the destination tag go?

Into the field your wallet or exchange calls destination tag, tag or memo, separate from the address.

At checkout: the XRP card says "Needs a tag".
On the payment screen: a box above the address says "This currency needs a tag. Include it with your transfer. A deposit sent without the tag cannot be recovered by us or by anyone else." Tap "Copy tag" to copy it.
Then the address: it appears only after you confirm that you will include the tag. Paste it into the address field, and the tag into the tag field.
X-addresses: some wallets use X-addresses, which start with X and carry the tag inside the address (xrpl.org). The Genghis payment address is a classic one starting with r, with the tag shown separately, so fill in both fields.
Optional field: if your exchange marks the tag field as optional, fill it in anyway.

The reason: a receiving address shared by many payers uses the destination tag to tell whose payment is whose, and without it the payment may not be credited (xrpl.org). Read which coins need a memo or destination tag.

How do I pay with XRP, step by step?

Seven steps, with the tag first.

Put your product in the cart, open checkout and enter the email address for your code.
Choose XRP, listed as Ripple with the "Needs a tag" label.
Tap "Copy tag" and paste the tag into the destination tag field of your wallet or exchange.
Confirm that you will include the tag. The address appears: tap "Copy address", paste it into the address field and check that it starts with r.
Enter exactly the amount shown after "Send exactly". If your exchange charges a withdrawal fee, choose "recipient gets the full amount" or add the fee on top.
Check the tag once more, then send before the quote expires. If it expires, "Get a new quote" gives a new amount for the same address.
Wait on the payment screen: your code appears as soon as the payment confirms, and we email you a link to it.

What else should I know about XRP accounts and fees?

Your wallet keeps a reserve you cannot send, and every transfer burns a small fee. These are XRP Ledger rules described on xrpl.org.

The reserve: every XRP Ledger account must hold 1 XRP plus 0.2 XRP for each object it owns, since validators lowered the reserves on December 2, 2024. Reserved XRP cannot be sent, so you can pay only with what sits above it. Validators can change these amounts by vote (checked September 25, 2026).
The fee is burned: each transaction destroys a small amount of XRP as its cost; it goes to no one and can rise when the ledger is busy.
Addresses: classic addresses have 25 to 35 characters, start with r and are case-sensitive, with a built-in checksum. Paste, never retype.
Final means final: a transaction in a validated ledger version is final.

How long until I get my code?

Your code appears on screen as soon as the payment confirms on the network. We also email you a link to it. How long the confirmation takes depends on the coin. The XRP Ledger treats a transaction as final once it is in a validated ledger version (xrpl.org). Most orders are delivered automatically; a small share is checked by hand before delivery. What if I forgot the tag, or something else went wrong?

Tell us at once at samantha@genghis.pro, with your order number and the TxID. Keep the payment screen's warning in mind: without the tag, the deposit cannot be recovered by us or by anyone else. Can I get a refund in XRP?

No. Refunds within 30 days if a code fails at first redemption, arrives incomplete or never arrives, or our page showed the wrong region. Refunds are paid in USDT or USDC (ERC-20 or BEP-20) or as Genghis Points, 1 to 3 business days after approval. An XRP payment is never refunded in XRP. Read how to claim a refund.
