How do I buy gift cards with Zcash (ZEC)?

To buy gift cards with Zcash, choose Zcash at checkout and send the exact ZEC amount shown to the transparent address on screen.

The payment address starts with t, so it is a transparent Zcash address (as of September 25, 2026). You can still pay from a shielded balance, but the amount then becomes visible on the receiving side. Your code appears on screen as soon as the payment confirms on the network. What is Zcash?

Zcash (ZEC) is a digital currency built from Bitcoin's code base that uses zero knowledge proofs to let users shield their transactions and balances, according to z.cash.

Which networks does Genghis accept for Zcash?

Just the Zcash network, as of September 25, 2026. The checkout always shows the current list.

The coin list shows "ZEC on Zcash". There is no wallet button for ZEC on any device, so the payment screen gives you the address, a QR code, "Copy address" and the exact amount.

Which kind of Zcash address do I pay to?

A transparent one: the Genghis payment address for ZEC starts with t (checked September 25, 2026). Zcash has two kinds of address, per the Zcash documentation:

• Transparent addresses start with t: t1 for standard addresses, t3 for script addresses. Like Bitcoin, they make the sender, receiver and amount public.
• Shielded addresses hide the sender, receiver and amount. Sapling shielded addresses start with zs, and unified addresses, starting with u1, bundle several kinds of receiver in one string.

Can I pay from a shielded Zcash wallet?

Yes, you can pay from a shielded balance. Sending from a shielded address to a transparent one is called deshielding, and it reveals the amount on the receiving side, per the Zcash documentation. The payment leg is the only part Zcash's privacy covers: your order holds the email address you gave at checkout, as every order does.

How do I pay with ZEC, step by step?

Seven steps; step 3 is the address check.

1. Place the gift card in your cart, proceed to checkout and type in the email address for the code.
2. Search for ZEC or Zcash, or use "Show all currencies", and choose the row "ZEC on Zcash".
3. Check that the address on the payment screen starts with t, then copy it with "Copy address" or scan the QR code.
4. From your Zcash wallet, transparent or shielded, send exactly the ZEC amount shown.
5. If a fee would come out of the amount, choose "recipient gets the full amount" or add the fee on top.
6. Send before the "Quote expires in" countdown ends. After it, the address is still good, and "Get a new quote" updates the amount.
7. Wait for the payment to confirm. Your code appears on screen and we email you a link to it.

What should I check before I send ZEC?

The fee, the amount that arrives, and the address you paste. These points come from the Zcash documentation and ZIP-317 (checked September 25, 2026).

• The fee is paid in ZEC, per action. Under ZIP-317, the fee depends on the number of actions in the transaction, with a minimum of two. Fees stay visible even on shielded transactions.
• The full amount has to arrive. Your wallet's fee comes on top of the amount due. From an exchange, pick the Zcash network and check what lands after its withdrawal fee. Read what to check when you pay from an exchange.
• Paste, never type. A transparent address is t followed by 34 letters and digits. Use "Copy address" or the QR code so that no character changes.

How long until I get my code?

Your code appears on screen as soon as the payment confirms on the network. We also email you a link to it. How long the confirmation takes depends on the coin. The Zcash network targets one block every 75 seconds, per the Zcash documentation. Most orders are delivered automatically; a small share is checked by hand before delivery. What if something goes wrong with my ZEC payment?

Can I get a refund in ZEC?

No, ZEC is not a refund coin: refunds reach you as stablecoins or Points.
